At approximately 6:28 a.m., police responded to a residence on 600 North in St. George after receiving a call from a woman who said her daughter was outside banging on the windows, St. George Police Officer Jud Callaway wrote in a probable cause statement supporting the arrest.
The daughter, identified as 33-year-old Erica Boone, was saying things that did not make much sense, Callaway said in the statement.
“She said she was there to see her daughter,” Callaway said, “and that her daughter was upstairs (in) a single story home.”
When officers ran Boone’s information, they discovered she had an outstanding warrant for failure to comply with a court order. When officers told Boone they were placing her under arrest for the warrant, she did not comply with their requests to put down her purse.
Callaway grabbed Boone by the arms from behind as another officer attempted to grab the purse, Callaway said in the statement. When the officer did so, he discovered a long kitchen knife concealed up the left sleeve of Boone’s jacket.
“She later stated she had it for protection from her mother,” Callaway said in the statement.
Upon searching the purse, police found a glass pipe with suspected methamphetamine residue inside. Later, at Purgatory Correctional Facility, they also found a small amount of methamphetamine wrapped inside a Narcotics Anonymous flyer.
Boone was booked into the Washington County Purgatory Correctional Facility and charged with one third-degree felony for possession of methamphetamine, two class A misdemeanors for possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person and a warrant for failing to comply with a court order, and two class B misdemeanors for interfering with an arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Her bail for release stands at $8,310 cash or bond for the new charges and $200 cash only for the warrant.
Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
