ST. GEORGE — A St. George woman arrested Tuesday on multiple drug charges claimed she is in jail for drugs belonging to her boyfriend.

At approximately 7:20 p.m., St. George Police Officer Doug Iverson responded to a residence on 1700 North in St. George on a drug call, Iverson wrote in a probable cause statement supporting the arrest. Once on scene, Iverson made contact with a man who said 19-year-old Olivia Olds and her boyfriend had been using drugs in a room he had allowed them to stay in.
After being taken to the room where Olds was staying, Iverson found multiple marijuana pipes, tinfoil with burnt black streaks and two small plastic baggies containing a white crystal substance, the statement said. All these items were in plain view, and there was a distinct smell of both raw and burnt marijuana.
“Some of the tinfoil showed streaks of what appeared to be heroin and pills,” Iverson said in the statement.
Iverson interviewed Olds, who admitted to smoking both marijuana and Roxicodone, or “Roxies,” also known as oxycodone hydrochloride, but she said the other drugs and drug paraphernalia did not belong to her, Iverson said in the statement. Olds consented to a full search of the room.
During the search, officers additionally located a small amount of marijuana in a pocket of one of Olds’ shirts, Iverson said in the statement.
“Olivia stated that she used heroin in the past but not anytime recent,” Iverson said. “Several attempts were made to get (her boyfriend) back over to the residence for an interview, but he did not show.”
Olds was arrested and booked into the Washington County Purgatory Correctional Facility. In the pre-booking area, Olds stated that she was in jail for drugs that did not belong to her and that they belonged to her boyfriend.
Because Olds’ residence was located within 1,000 feet of an LDS church, the drug charges against her were enhanced by one degree for being within a drug-free zone.
Olds was charged with two second-degree felonies for possession of heroin and methamphetamine in a drug-free zone, as well as two class A misdemeanors for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in a drug-free zone. Her bail for release is set at $27,500 cash or bond.
Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
