ST. GEORGE – A two-vehicle collision Tuesday afternoon on Sunset Boulevard in St. George, temporarily closed one westbound travel lane and blocked access to 1400 West Street.
The collision occurred about 2 p.m. when a man, driving a Toyota Corolla south on 1400 West Street, attempted to turn left onto Sunset Boulevard and head east. While doing so, the Toyota Corolla collided with a westbound SUV driven by a woman, St. George Police Officer Kyser Christensen said.
The impact ripped the front bumper off of the Toyota Corolla while the SUV appeared only minimally damaged.
Initially, there was concern that a 10-year-old boy in the Toyota Corolla had been hurt, but he was cleared by responding medical personnel, Christensen said. No other injuries were reported.
The driver of the Toyota Corolla was issued a citation for failure to yield to oncoming traffic, Christensen said. Both vehicles remained operable and were driven away from the scene which was cleared around 2:45 p.m.
Units from the St. George Police and Fire departments responded to the scene along with Gold Cross Ambulance.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by the authorities and may not contain the full scope of findings.
