ST. GEORGE — Two cars collided on River Road Monday afternoon when the driver of a black Lexus failed to yield to oncoming traffic when pulling out of a business parking lot.

Just before 2:45 p.m., the driver of the black Lexus was preparing to make a left turn out of the Fabulous Freddy’s parking lot at 134 S. River Road to travel northbound on River Road at the same time as a black Ford Mustang was traveling southbound on River Road. The two cars collided, St. George Police Lt. Andrew Mickelson said.

The airbags deployed on the black Mustang, but neither driver was treated for any injuries on scene nor were they transported by Gold Cross Ambulance, which responded to the accident, Mickelson said.

Minor damages occurred to the driver’s side of the black Lexus while a cracked windshield and front bumper damage was sustained by the black Mustang.

Traffic was delayed for about 10 minutes before drivers of both vehicles were able to move from the roadway and into the parking lot connected with Winger’s Roadhouse and Applebee’s at 170 S. River Road to finish with accident reports. Both vehicles were then towed from the parking lot, Mickelson said.

The driver of the black Lexus was cited for failure to yield on a left turn, Mickelson said.

St. George Fire Department, St. George Police Department and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the scene.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
